About this fish
About this fish
Harlequin Sweetlips is a reef-associated marine fish sold under the name Harlequin Sweetlips (Plectorhinchus cheatodonoides). As a member of the sweetlips group, it is typically kept for its distinctive look and active behavior as a predatory fish in a home saltwater aquarium. In practical terms, this fish is best used as the featured centerpiece predator in a compatible community tank where it can be fed a meaty diet and kept in a stable, mature system.
Features:
- Predatory/carnivorous feeding style: plan on offering meaty foods on a regular schedule
- Best maintained in a mature, stable saltwater aquarium to support consistent water quality
- Give it time to settle: slow acclimation and a calmer area of the tank can help reduce stress after arrival
- Tankmate planning matters: research suitable companions beforehand so size and behavior are compatible
- It generally benefits from a varied diet of quality frozen foods rather than a single food type
Specifications:
- Scientific name: Plectorhinchus cheatodonoides
- Category: Eels & Predators
- Diet (general): Carnivorous; feed a varied diet of quality frozen, meaty foods
- System maturity: Use a mature, stable saltwater aquarium
