Live food for reef tanks
Live food is the most natural food you can give a reef. Our live food for reef tanks includes live copepods and phytoplankton, along with bundles and starter packs.
Why add live food?
Copepods are tiny crustaceans that live in rock and sand. Picky fish, such as mandarin dragonets, hunt them all day. Phytoplankton, in turn, feeds copepods, corals and filter feeders. Together, they build a natural food chain in your tank.
Live food is also great for a new tank. Seeding pods early gives them time to breed before you add fish that eat them.
Common questions
How often should I add copepods?
Many reefers add a bottle every few weeks or months, depending on their fish. A refugium helps pods breed between doses.
