About this fish
Skunk Tile Fish (Hoplolatilus marcosi) is an unusual saltwater goby/blenny-type reef fish for the home aquarium. As a tilefish, it’s typically chosen by aquarists who want something different while still keeping a relatively peaceful fish that suits a calm, stable display. In practice, it’s best added to an established marine tank where it can settle in with minimal disturbance, and you’ll want a secure lid because this species can jump when startled.
Features:
- Shy by nature, so it generally does best when kept with a peaceful routine and minimal harassment
- Peaceful temperament with appropriate tankmates, making it a good candidate for calm community setups
- Needs a tight lid, since it may jump when startled
- Benefits from a mature, stable system before adding it
- Feed a varied diet using quality frozen foods for good overall nutrition
- When it arrives, acclimate it slowly and provide a quiet spot in the tank to settle
