Plant and Shrimp Stratum – Fluval

Product details

Plant and Shrimp Stratum – Fluval is a mineral-rich planted aquarium substrate designed to support freshwater plants and provide a comfortable base layer for shrimp. It’s made to help plant roots spread easily through the material so plants can access nutrients where they grow. In practice, it’s used to create a planted-tank look while also encouraging beneficial biological activity, since the porous structure provides surface area for nitrifying bacteria. The substrate is also intended to support a neutral to slightly acidic environment commonly preferred in many planted freshwater setups.

Features:

• Mineral-rich volcanic soil designed for freshwater planted aquariums
• Porous structure supports colonization by nitrifying bacteria
• Encourages plant roots to penetrate and spread through the substrate
• Helps support a neutral to mildly acidic pH for many planted-tank species
• Attractive substrate that is described as not discoloring water
• Provides a refuge for newborn shrimp while they are small and vulnerable
