About this fish
About this fish
Falco Hawk is the name we use in our shop for a hawkfish, Cirrhitichthys falco, a personable saltwater fish designed for life in a home reef or marine aquarium. It’s well known for perching behavior—often settling on rocks and even among corals—so it adds “watching” activity to your tank as it scans for food.
Features:
- Hawkfish commonly perch on rockwork and may position themselves among corals for a secure view of the tank
- A generally hardy choice for many home saltwater setups, especially when fed regularly
- Feeding is straightforward: frozen mysis, brine shrimp, and meaty prepared foods are commonly accepted
- Expect interaction with small invertebrates; while many hawkfish are considered reef compatible, they may eat small shrimp
- To help it settle in, acclimate slowly and provide a quiet spot with secure perching options
- Consider tankmates carefully, particularly any small, slow-moving crustaceans
