About this fish
About this fish
Personifer Angel Male is a marine angelfish for a home saltwater aquarium. Its scientific name is Chaetodontoplus meredithi. In the tank, it’s used as a standout, active centerpiece fish that naturally grazes and forages on live rock and rocks while adding bold, reef-associated coloration and patterning that often changes as angelfish mature.
Features:
- Marine angelfish temperament is typically best managed with careful tank planning and compatible tankmates
- Often uses live rock for grazing and foraging behavior, so established rockwork helps it settle
- Provide a varied diet and offer multiple feedings to support health and reduce stress
- Many angelfish may pick at corals and other invertebrates—research reef compatibility before adding to a coral tank
- Give it time to acclimate slowly and allow a quieter settling area when first introduced
- In most cases, keep only one angelfish per tank unless the aquarium is very large and well planned
Specifications:
- Scientific name: Chaetodontoplus meredithi
- Care level (general): Moderate; benefits from stable saltwater conditions and attentive feeding
- Diet: Varied diet of quality frozen foods, sponge-based formulas, and algae
- Feeding frequency: Several times per day
- Behavior/temperament: Active, foraging grazer; may be territorial with other angelfish
- Reef compatibility (general): May nip/pick at corals and clam mantles; verify suitability for your specific tank
- Tank setup/placement: Provide swimming space and established live rock for grazing
- Water conditions (general marine reef targets): Temperature: about 24–27°C; Salinity: about 1.020–1.025 SG; pH: about 8.1–8.4
- Water chemistry (general reef range guidance): Aim for stable alkalinity/calcium/magnesium appropriate to a marine reef system; keep parameters consistent rather than chasing rapid changes
