About this fish
Yellow Tail Tamarin Wrasse (No Guarantee) is a saltwater wrasse sold as Anampses meleagrides. In the aquarium, tamarin wrasses are best kept as active, mid-to-upper swimmers that help add natural grazing and predatory behavior as they hunt for meaty foods. This species is commonly used in reef-capable setups when compatible, and it can also be a striking centerpiece fish for tanks with stable water quality and plenty of swimming space.
Features:
- Active, fast-swimming wrasse that benefits from open swimming room and live rock for shelter
- Carnivorous feeder; does best when offered a varied diet of meaty foods
- Often territorial with other wrasses; plan stocking carefully to reduce competition
- Usually most comfortable in established, stable aquariums with good filtration and consistent parameters
- Can be sensitive to abrupt water-quality changes, so gradual acclimation is important
- May pick at small invertebrates; reef compatibility depends on the specific tank and tankmates
