About this fish
About this fish
Naoki Wrasse (Cirrhilabrus naokoe) is a wrasse for the home saltwater aquarium. It’s a lively, rockwork-cruising fish known for its active behavior and its usefulness in a well-established tank by helping control some common aquarium pests such as flatworms and bristle worms. As with many wrasses, it can be very responsive to proper acclimation and a secure setup, making it a popular choice for aquarists who enjoy watching fish behaviors throughout the day.
Features:
- Active, colorful wrasse that cruises and explores the rockwork
- Often considered reef safe by hobbyists; may help control pests such as flatworms and bristle worms
- Typically eats a variety of meaty and prepared foods, including frozen options
- May bury in the sand or hide in a mucus cocoon at night—having sand available can support natural behavior
- Strong jumper behavior: a tight lid helps prevent accidents
- Arrives ready for slow acclimation—give it a quiet place to settle before introducing it to higher-traffic areas
