Ultra Bak is a marine aquarium nutrient solution designed to support beneficial bacteria commonly found in reef systems. It helps promote rapid bacterial growth that can convert unwanted nutrients such as nitrite, nitrate, and phosphate into biomass. In practice, bacteria produced via Ultra Bak can be removed by skimming or consumed by corals and filter feeders, providing an additional natural food source. Ultra Bak is also described as an amino-acid/vitamin-style bacterial support approach intended to assist systems that aim for lower nutrient levels, including tanks that use Zeolite filtration.
