The Tunze Macro Algae Reactor 3182 is a water-reactor designed to grow macroalgae and support aquarium water quality in both marine and freshwater systems. In practice, it helps cultivate algae (and plants in freshwater) using controlled flow, turning nutrient-rich aquarium water into biological filtration. As water passes through the reactor, algae can contribute to reductions in nitrate and phosphate, help filter the aquarium water, and increase dissolved oxygen. The system can also serve as an algae-based feeding and refuge area for small organisms such as zooplankton, which may be consumed by corals and fish.
