Seachem Onyx Sand 15.4lbs (3505) is a naturally dark gray sand substrate for freshwater aquariums, commonly used in planted setups. It provides a carbonate-rich substrate that can support stability in KH for freshwater planted aquariums, and it can complement many aquarium aesthetics. Onyx Sand is intended for use as the primary substrate bed (or mixed with other gravels) and is not chemically coated or treated. As a carbonate-rich sand, it has a slight buffering capacity that may raise pH slightly (depending on source water characteristics). Because it is natural and designed for long-term use, it is described as good for the life of the aquarium and need not be replaced under normal aquarium maintenance.
