Seachem Cupramine 100mL (565) is a copper-based medication used to treat external parasites on aquarium fish. It is designed for practical use in both freshwater and marine setups, targeting common ectoparasites such as Oodinium, Cryptocaryon, and Ich/Cryptocaryon and similar “white spot/velvet” conditions. Because copper treatments need to be maintained at the correct level during the full course, Cupramine is typically used as part of a controlled medication period rather than as a spot treatment.
Features:
- Effectively eradicates multiple ectoparasites of freshwater and marine fish, including Oodinium and Cryptocaryon-type ich/white-spot parasites
- Works at low concentration and does not rely on harsh copper forms; it is described as non-acidic and remains in solution
- Copper is bound on an amine to help reduce toxicity compared with some other copper sources
- Removable with chemical filtration, including carbon or Cuprisorb, to help clear copper from the system after treatment
- A therapeutic window is described as having more than a four-fold gap between minimal therapeutic and toxic concentrations
- Treatment guidance is provided for maintaining copper strength for the full period so parasites do not multiply and reinfect
