Seachem Acid Buffer 70g (244) is a non-phosphate buffering additive used in aquariums to lower and stabilize pH for systems that need a slightly acidic range. In practical use, it’s designed for planted aquariums and for very hard water where phosphate-based buffering can contribute to algae or cloudiness problems. When used together with Alkaline Buffer™, Acid Buffer™ helps buffer pH between 6.0 and 8.0, and as it lowers pH it converts carbonate alkalinity (KH) into available CO2.
Features:
- Helps lower pH and provides buffering for a targeted pH range when paired with Alkaline Buffer™
- Non-phosphate formulation helps avoid added phosphates associated with some phosphate-based buffering systems
- Designed for planted aquariums and for very hard water conditions
- Works by converting carbonate alkalinity (KH) into available CO2 as pH is adjusted
- Intended pH adjustment range is stated as 5.0 to 8.0 with this buffering approach
- Can be used when you want acid-driven pH movement without introducing phosphate buffering systems
