NP-Bacto Pellets Biodegradable Filter Media – Tropic Marin is an organic, biodegradable pellet filter media designed for use in pellet reactors or fluidized bed filter reactors. In reef tanks and fish-only systems, it is used to support effective, biological reduction of nitrate and phosphate by encouraging the colonization of beneficial microorganisms that use nitrogen and phosphorus from aquarium water.

Specifications:

• Use: Pellet reactor or fluidized reactor
• Preparation: Pour boiling hot water over pellets and soak for 2 hours before use to expel excess air
• Initial dosing: Start with 50 ml per 100 liters (26 gallons) of aquarium system water
• Maximum dosing: Do not exceed 200 ml per 100 liters of aquarium system water
• Re-dosing interval: Top up about every month to replace degraded media
• Notes on system support: A protein skimmer is recommended for nutrient and gas exchange
