Matrix – Seachem is a highly porous bio-filtration media made to support nitrifying bacteria in freshwater, marine, and reef aquariums. It’s used in filtration to help remove ammonia and nitrite, and to support nitrate processing as part of a biological filter. In practical terms, it’s a volume-based media you can place into many common filter types (especially canister filters) to increase biological filtration capacity without relying on chemical treatment.
