About this fish
About this fish
Flaming Prawn Goby (Discordipinna griessingeri) is a small, peaceful goby built for life in the home saltwater aquarium. In practical terms, it’s a great “activity fish” that can perch on live rock or corals, sift the sand bed, and (for those that pair well) share a burrow with a pistol shrimp. Its behaviors make it a useful addition to many reef tanks where you want a calm, natural-looking bottom-dweller.
Features:
- Peaceful, community-friendly temperament that fits many reef setups
- May perch on rocks or corals, adding movement and interest
- Can sift the sand bed—benefits from a deep, mature sand bed
- May share a burrow with a pistol shrimp
- Often stays busy hunting for food in the lower levels of the tank
- Accepts small frozen foods when properly offered
- A tight lid is important, since many gobies are jumpers
- Slow acclimation and a quiet settling-in spot help it adjust after arrival
