About this fish
About this fish
Blue Streak Cleaner Wrasse (Labroides dimidiatus) is a saltwater wrasse commonly added to home aquariums for its natural “cleaner” behavior. As a cleaner wrasse, it typically picks at parasites and other material on other fish, making it a practical, behavior-focused addition to a compatible community tank. Because wrasses can be demanding, it’s best for aquarists prepared to support its feeding and acclimation needs.
Features:
- Active, colorful wrasse that typically cruises the rockwork throughout the day
- Cleaner behavior may help remove parasites from other fish in the aquarium
- Often considered reef safe, and may help control pests in the system
- Can be challenging to keep long term, so proper acclimation and diet matter
- Many wrasses bury in the sand or hide in a mucus cocoon at night—benefits from a sand bed
- Strong jumpers, so a tight lid is strongly recommended
