About this coral
About this coral
Aussie War Coral Favia is an LPS coral from the genus Favia, commonly kept as a “brain coral” style centerpiece in reef aquariums. In practice, it’s purchased to add hardy, textured, brain-like coral growth and color variation associated with many commercially sold Favias, while fitting typical reef-tank husbandry for LPS corals. Use it as a focal coral in stable conditions, pairing it with compatible rockwork and an appropriate lighting and water-flow setup for LPS.
Features:
- LPS Favia (brain coral) form adds a distinctive, bumpy, textured look to the aquascape.
- Generally considered hardy within the LPS group when kept in stable reef conditions.
- Prefers moderate lighting and gentle, indirect water movement to avoid tissue damage from too much flow.
- Often benefits from occasional targeted feeding to support polyp health, in addition to natural reef feeding.
- Works well on a rock base where it can fully attach and be kept away from heavy contact with other aggressive corals.
- Under proper care, it can contribute to ongoing growth typical of brain corals in reef aquariums.
