Aussie Lavender Trachy

About this coral

Aussie Lavender Trachy is a colorful LPS coral often sold in the “trachy” group (Trachyphyllia/Wellsophyllia-type fleshy sandbed corals). In practical aquarium use, it’s valued for its fleshy, textured appearance and for anchoring itself to a sandbed or stable base, where it can extend polyps and capture food from the water column. Like many named “color morph” corals, the shop name may emphasize appearance rather than a formally distinct species, so this description focuses on general guidance for the confirmed coral group rather than morph-specific claims.

Features:

• Belongs to the trachy/wellsophyllia-style fleshy sandbed LPS group, typically appreciated for a showy, textured look
• Commonly used as a focal piece in reef aquariums because it can extend fleshy polyps and add movement
• Usually fares best when placed where it can remain stable on the substrate (sandy or well-supported base)
• Generally benefits from moderate, not blasting, water movement to keep the coral functioning while avoiding stress
• Often does best with supplemental feedings in addition to natural capture from the water column
• Works well in established, stable-parameter reef setups where water quality is maintained
