Product details
Aquavitro Purfiltrum is a macro-porous synthetic polymer filter media designed to remove both soluble and insoluble organic impurities from aquarium water. Used in fine-mesh filter bags, it helps reduce organic waste that can otherwise be converted into nitrogenous compounds, supporting clearer water in both marine and freshwater systems. In practice, you place the media in your filtration flow, monitor its performance as it darkens, and periodically regenerate it to restore activity for reuse.
Features:
- Removes soluble and insoluble organic impurities using a macro-porous resin structure
- Designed to help control ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates by targeting nitrogenous organic waste
- Works for both marine and freshwater setups as an organic filtration step
- Helps polish water for improved clarity
- Progressively darkens as it captures impurities, making exhaustion easier to recognize
- Regenerable with a bleach/water soak followed by dechlorination and (for freshwater) buffer steps
Specifications:
- Media type: Macro-porous synthetic polymer (resin)
- Before use: Rinse before use
- Where to use: Use in a fine mesh filter bag
- Exhaustion indicator: Pronounced discoloration of beads to dark brown or black
- Regeneration (method): Soak exhausted media in 1:1 bleach:water solution for 24 hours, then rinse; then soak with dechlorinator (alpha™ or equivalent) and rinse again
- Freshwater regeneration (additional step): After bleach/dechlorination steps, soak beads for 4 hours in buffer solution (Discus Buffer® or Neutral Regulator®) then rinse
- Approx. treatment capacity (per directions): 225 mL treats up to 1,000 L (250 US gallons) for up to six months
- Notes: Do not reuse if bleach/chlorine odor is detectable; some slime coat products may foul media and complicate regeneration
