About this fish
About this fish
Ribbon Eel Blue Lg is a saltwater ribbon eel fish sold under the scientific name Rhinomuraena quaesita. This long-bodied eel is a predatory, bottom-leaning fish that typically spends time in rockwork and emerges to hunt or take meaty foods. In a reef or fish-only aquarium, it’s used as an active, visually striking predator and should be placed with tankmates it can’t overpower.
Features:
- Predatory feeding behavior makes small fish and tiny invertebrates at risk
- Typically benefits from abundant rock/crevices for shelter and foraging positions
- Long, eel-like body is best kept in aquariums with secure coverings to reduce escape risk
- Often targets food items once it learns your feeding routine and presents food near its position
- Best housed as a single specimen (or with careful, durable tankmates) due to its hunting nature
Specifications:
- Scientific name: Rhinomuraena quaesita
- Category: Special Order Fish
- Diet: Carnivorous; typically eats meaty, sinking foods sized for the eel
- Temperament: Predatory
