About this fish
About this fish
Green Bird Wrasse is a saltwater wrasse (Gomphosus varius) for the home aquarium. Known for its bold, active swimming over the rockwork, it can add constant movement to a reef-style display while also helping with certain nuisance organisms. This fish is typically used as a centerpiece wrasse that thrives in a well-aquascaped tank with secure coverage and regular, meaty feeding.
Features:
- Active, colorful wrasse that cruises the rockwork throughout the day
- Many wrasses are reef compatible; individual tankmates can still vary, so plan carefully
- Can help control some pests such as flatworms and bristle worms
- Appreciates a sand bed, since it may bury in the sand or rest in a mucus cocoon at night
- Strong jumper—keeping a tight lid helps prevent escapes
- Feeds best with a consistent routine; offers include frozen mysis, brine shrimp, and quality pellets
Specifications:
