Panther Grouper is a predatory reef fish sold under the scientific name Cromileptes altivelis. In the home saltwater aquarium, this species is best used as a centerpiece predator in a fish-only setup, where its feeding instincts and size can be managed safely. Because groupers are well-known for swallowing smaller animals, this fish is most practical in tanks designed around secure rockwork and appropriately sized, robust tankmates.
