About this fish
About this fish
The Aberrant Grouper is a predatory reef fish for a home saltwater aquarium. As a groupers/soapfish-type predator, it’s best suited to a fish-only setup where its hunting instincts and adult needs can be accommodated. This kind of fish is ideal for experienced keepers who want a bold, food-driven centerpiece fish and can provide a secure, reef-appropriate aquascape for settling in.
Features:
- Predatory, so it may eat any fish or crustacean small enough to swallow
- A hardy predator when kept in an appropriate, stable marine aquarium
- Does best with plenty of rock and hiding space to feel secure
- Benefits from being fed meaty foods such as frozen silversides, squid, and shrimp
- Keep tankmates large and robust to reduce the risk of being eaten
- Acclimate slowly and provide a quiet area so it can settle after arrival
Specifications:
- Group: Groupers/soapfish relatives (predatory marine reef fish)
- Best tank type: Fish-only (predator-focused setup)
- Temperament: Predatory; may consume smaller tankmates
- Diet: Meaty foods such as frozen silversides, squid, and shrimp
- Feeding frequency (general guidance): A few times per week
- Aquascape: Provide plenty of rock for hiding and security
