About this fish
About this fish
The Coral Beauty Angelfish is a marine angelfish (Centropyge bispinosus) for the home saltwater aquarium. It’s a compact “dwarf angel” that adds bold, eye-catching presence while also benefiting from grazing opportunities in a live-rock setup. In practice, this fish is best used as a centerpiece or companion in well-established systems where you’re prepared for its foraging behavior and possible interactions with sessile invertebrates.
Features:
- Compact dwarf-angelfish style—typically suited to smaller saltwater aquariums compared with larger angels
- Bold patterning that can change as angelfish grow, making it visually interesting over time
- Naturally inclined to pick and graze—providing live rock helps support normal feeding behavior
- A varied diet works best; offer quality foods several times daily rather than relying on a single item
- Because many angelfish may nip at corals or clam mantles, research compatibility before adding to a reef
- Give it time to settle: acclimate slowly and provide calmer areas so it can recover after shipping
Specifications:
- Scientific name (verified): Centropyge bispinosus
- Care level (general): Moderate (common marine angelfish needs stable water and varied feeding)
- Temperament: Active and territorial with conspecifics; generally not recommended with other dwarf angels
- Adult size (approx.): About 4–5 in (10–13 cm)
- Diet: Varied diet of quality frozen foods, sponge-based formulas, and algae; feed several times per day
- Reef note: May pick at corals and clam mantles—reef compatibility is not guaranteed
- Tank setup/placement: Live rock for grazing; acclimate slowly and include a quiet spot to settle in
