About this fish
About this fish
Leaf Scorpion Fish Yellow is an unusual marine scorpionfish commonly identified as Taenianotus triacanthus, sold for hobbyists who want a truly distinctive reef-tank centerpiece. Its leaf-like, drifting sway makes it visually engaging, while its practical use in the aquarium is as a specialty predator that helps satisfy an otherwise hard-to-find niche: feeding on appropriate meaty foods such as shrimp. Because it is a venomous, spiny fish, it’s best suited for experienced keepers who plan tankmates and handling carefully. Add it to a stable, mature saltwater aquarium and allow it a calm settling period so it can adapt after shipping.
Features:
- Leaf-like swimming posture that appears to sway or drift in the water
- Venomous fin spines—handle with care and keep safety in mind
- Predatory feeding behavior, taking appropriate live or frozen shrimp
- Works best in a mature, stable system rather than a newly set up tank
- Acclimates best with slow drip-style or similar gradual acclimation methods
- Appreciates a quieter spot in the aquarium to settle after arrival
