About this fish
About this fish
Sulfur Damsel Africa is a home saltwater aquarium damselfish, sold as Pomacentrus sulfureus. This lively, hardy fish is a popular choice for adding color and activity to established reef or fish-only setups, and it’s generally considered reef-safe with corals. In practice, it uses the rockwork in your tank to establish a territory, so thoughtful aquascaping and compatible tankmates make a big difference.
Features:
- Active and engaging, with typical damselfish behavior of cruising the tank and using rockwork
- Generally reef safe with corals for most home aquarium setups
- Can become territorial as it matures, especially toward similar-looking or space-claiming tankmates
- Often does best when there’s plenty of live rock for it to claim and defend
- Feed small frozen foods plus quality flakes or pellets once or twice daily
- Acclimate slowly when it arrives and give it a quiet spot to settle in before expecting normal feeding behavior
