About this fish
Pink-Streaked Wrasse is the shop name for the marine wrasse identified as Pseudocheilinops ataenia. It’s a small, active reef fish kept for its distinctive appearance and engaging behavior around live rock. In a home aquarium, it’s typically used as a centerpiece “rock-dweller” that patrols the tank, picks at food in the water column, and uses caves and crevices for rest and security.
Features:
- Marine (saltwater) wrasse for established aquariums with plenty of live rock and hiding spaces
- Active swimmer that often becomes more visible once it feels secure
- Typically feeds on a variety of meaty foods when offered appropriately sized items
- Uses cover and crevices for stress reduction, especially during acclimation and tank changes
- A secure lid is important, as wrasses are known to jump
- Best paired with community tank setups that don’t include much larger, highly aggressive tankmates
