About this coral
About this coral
Kryptonite Candy Cane is a commercially raised LPS coral (“candy cane coral”) sold by the shop under that name, falling under the Caulastrea group (Caulastrea spp.). In a reef tank, it’s typically used as a hardy, beginner-friendly branching LPS that can be placed in the lower-to-mid aquascape for a steady, polyp-forward look.
Features:
- LPS coral that follows established candy cane husbandry: generally easy care with low–moderate lighting and moderate flow.
- Low–mid placement guidance helps position the coral where it can extend and feed comfortably.
- Semi-aggressive growth behavior: plan for spacing (about 3–6 inches) to reduce sweep/competition with nearby corals.
- Branching “candy cane” style polyps provide a classic LPS silhouette and active feeding behavior.
- Diet-ready for common LPS feeding: it can accept meaty foods like mysis and finely chopped items, alongside microplankton types.
- Often treated as a versatile reef coral for tanks that maintain stable water chemistry within typical LPS ranges.
