About this coral
Indo Metallic Tips Torch is a torch-coral type LPS coral in the genus Euphyllia. In the aquarium, torch corals are kept for their long, sweeping tentacles and fleshy polyps, which typically extend to capture food and help give the display movement and texture. As a general group guideline for Euphyllia torch corals, it does best with moderate lighting and a steady, medium water flow to keep the polyps healthy without excessive blasting.
Features:
- LPS Euphyllia torch-coral style with sweeping tentacles for an eye-catching, dynamic look
- Group-level care generally favors moderate light, which supports normal polyp activity
- Medium, steady flow helps remove detritus while avoiding tentacle damage from strong currents
- Best placed where it can receive consistent lighting and flow across the polyp area
- Like many LPS corals, it typically benefits from occasional meaty feedings and target-feeding when polyp extension is active
- Maintain reef stability (especially salinity and carbonate chemistry) to support long-term health for LPS corals
Specifications:
- Coral group: Euphyllia (torch coral type) — LPS
- Care level (general guidance): Moderate; suited to hobbyists who keep stable reef parameters
- Lighting: Moderate light
- Water flow: Medium, steady flow
- Placement: Lower to middle of the tank where light and flow are consistent
- Temperature: Tropical reef range (typical 72–78°F / 22–26°C)
- Salinity: Reef salinity (typical ~1.024–1.026 SG)
- pH (typical reef target): ~8.1–8.4
- Carbonate system (typical reef target): Alkalinity and calcium should be kept stable for calcifying invertebrates; commonly ~7–11 dKH alkalinity and ~380–450 ppm calcium
- Magnesium (typical reef target): ~1,250–1,350 ppm
