About this coral
About this coral
Golden Glaze Acropora is an SPS coral (Acropora) commonly kept as a reef-tank centerpiece for its branching, fast-growing skeletal structure. In practice, Acropora is used to add classic “staghorn” look to aquascapes and is best reserved for aquarists who can maintain stable, reef-like water conditions and strong circulation. Group-level care guidance for Acropora is recommended because named color varieties may not have separate, universally documented care requirements.
Features:
- SPS coral that typically benefits from strong, intense aquarium lighting to support photosynthesis
- Thrives with high, turbulent water flow to help deliver nutrients and remove waste
- Generally requires stable water quality, because rapid parameter swings can stress Acropora
- Best placed where flow and light are consistent, often on the upper rockwork to reach target lighting
- Commonly kept in established reef systems where alkalinity and calcium can be maintained reliably
- Helps create a structured reef look as it expands its branching form over time
- Suitable for reef aquariums that can support the dosing/maintenance often used for SPS tanks
Specifications:
- Care level (group guidance): Advanced (SPS; generally sensitive to instability)
- Lighting (group guidance): Strong aquarium lighting appropriate for SPS
- Water flow (group guidance): High flow with turbulent circulation
- Placement (group guidance): Upper to mid aquascape to receive strong light and consistent flow
- Water temperature (typical reef range): About 72–78 °F (22–26 °C)
- Salinity (typical reef range): ~1.023–1.026 specific gravity
- pH (typical reef range): About 8.1–8.4
- Alkalinity (typical reef range): ~7–11 dKH
- Calcium (typical reef range): ~400–450 ppm
- Magnesium (typical reef range): ~1250–1350 ppm
