About this coral
About this coral
CLEARANCE – ASD Peaches Chalice is an LPS (“large polyp stony”) coral from the chalice group, sold under that trade name for aquarium display. Chalice corals are prized for their distinct, centered “eyes” and attractive coloration. In a reef aquarium, they’re typically used as a showpiece coral because they display well under appropriate light and flow and can add movement and texture as their polyps extend during the photoperiod.
Features:
- LPS chalice form with prominent polyp “eyes,” making it a visually engaging centerpiece coral
- Often benefits from moderate lighting and gentle, indirect water movement rather than blasting flow
- Usually performs best in stable reef conditions with consistent water quality parameters
- Likely relies on both photosynthesis and supplemental feeding, depending on tank conditions
- Good choice for aquarists looking for a textured, display-forward coral within the chalice/LPS group
Specifications:
- Coral type: LPS coral (chalice group)
- Care guidance: General LPS/chalice group guidance: keep stable reef water quality and avoid sudden changes.
- Lighting: Moderate reef lighting (adjust to appearance and polyp extension).
- Water flow: Moderate, indirect flow; avoid strong, direct blasts.
- Temperature: Common reef range: ~72–78°F (22–26°C).
- Salinity: Reef salinity range: ~1.020–1.026 specific gravity.
- pH: Typical reef target range: ~8.1–8.4.
- Alkalinity: Common reef target range: ~7–11 dKH.
- Calcium: Common reef target range: ~380–450 ppm.
- Magnesium: Common reef target range: ~1200–1350 ppm.
- Diet: Generally benefits from supplemental small meaty foods in addition to light-driven energy.
- Placement: Typically placed on the lower-to-mid rockwork where moderate light and gentle flow can be maintained.
