About this fish
About this fish
Chrysurus Angelfish is a marine angelfish for the home saltwater aquarium, identified scientifically as Pomacanthus chrysurus. It’s a visually striking species that uses its bold coloration and patterns to stand out in the tank, and like many angelfish, its appearance can change as it grows. Practically, it’s most useful for aquarists looking for a hardy, active centerpiece fish in a well-established system with plenty of rock for natural grazing and stable water conditions.
Features:
- Bold angelfish patterning that often shifts as the fish grows
- Benefits from live rock and open swimming space for foraging and movement
- Typically needs a varied diet rather than a single food type
- Will often pick at corals and other sessile animals, so reef compatibility should be planned carefully
- Best kept as a single angelfish in smaller systems to reduce aggression risk
- Arrives best with slow acclimation and a quieter area to help it settle in
