About this coral
Chameleon Chalice – Multiples Available is a living LPS coral from the “chalice” group sold as small frags for display in reef aquariums. In practical terms, it’s chosen for its encrusting to plating growth form and visually interesting texture, which can add contrast and depth to the lower rockwork or mid-scape. Because coral sellers sometimes use “color morph” naming, the exact named variety may vary from frag to frag, but it’s still an LPS chalice-type coral, so general LPS husbandry and stable reef conditions are the best guide for keeping it healthy.
Features:
- LPS encrusting/plating growth helps it integrate well into existing rockwork and aquascapes
- Textured, fleshy-looking surface and prominent “eye” pattern provide strong visual contrast
- Designed as a frag—each piece may naturally vary in shape and overall layout from the representative photo
- Generally does well with low to moderate reef lighting when acclimated gradually
- Typically appreciates low to moderate, non-blasting water movement to avoid stressing tissue
- With proper spacing, it can be positioned to reduce the risk of contact from neighboring corals’ sweeper/defensive growth
- Occasional feeding of appropriately sized particulate foods can help support LPS nutrition when conditions are stable
