Bam Bam Zoas

About this coral

Bam Bam Zoas are zoanthid polyps sold for reef aquariums, typically enjoyed for their lively, spreading “zoa garden” growth on rockwork. Like other zoanthids/palythoa-type corals in the aquarium trade, this group is generally used as photosynthetic, ornamental live tissue that can expand into a colony over time. Group-level care guidance is provided below (exact scientific identity and morph-specific traits may vary by vendor).

Features:

• Beginner-friendly zoanthid coral option for reef displays, with polyps that open during the day
• Relatively quick expansion over rockwork, making it ideal for creating a dedicated Zoa garden
• Works best with low-to-moderate lighting and gentle, steady flow that helps keep debris off the polyps
• Primarily photosynthetic, with the option for occasional supplemental feeding using coral foods
• Can encroach on nearby corals, so it helps to leave space around the frag
