About this coral
About this invertebrate
Baby Matenensis Carpet Anemone is a reef-dwelling anemone offered for aquarium use. Like other carpet anemones, it typically settles on the rockwork or sand and uses stinging tentacles to capture food, while also relying on light for part of its energy needs. In practice, this makes it a striking centerpiece in a compatible reef setup, adding natural movement and texture while helping build a more dynamic display.
Features:
- Carpet-anemone style body with tentacles that add visible movement and “carpet” coverage to the tank
- Sessile (mostly stationary) but can relocate as it settles and adjusts to the tank
- Stinging tentacles help it defend itself and capture small food items
- Generally benefits from stable, reef-quality water conditions rather than sudden changes
- Often placed on rock/sand so it can anchor securely as it acclimates
- May interact with compatible reef fish/invertebrates (anemones can also sting tankmates)
- Can be supported with a combination of light and supplemental meaty feedings (when appropriate for the animal)
Specifications:
- Livestock type: Invertebrate (anemone)
- Care level (general guidance): Advanced
- Temperament: Sessile; can sting other tankmates

- Water flow (general guidance): Moderate to strong, depending on tank position

- Diet (general guidance): Meaty foods/small protein items as needed; also uses light for part of its energy
- Temperature: Tropical reef range (commonly mid-20s °C)
- Salinity: Reef salinity (~35 ppt; specific gravity roughly 1.024–1.026)
- pH: Typical reef range (about 8.1–8.4)
