About this fish
About this fish
Randall’s Goby (Amblyeleotris randalli) is a small, peaceful goby suited to many home saltwater reef aquariums. In practice, it helps add lively movement and natural behaviors such as perching on rock or corals, sifting the sand, and using a burrow—often alongside compatible shrimp—so it can become an active, engaging part of your tank’s bottom-dwelling community.
Features:
- Peaceful temperament that’s typically a good fit for many reef tank setups
- Often perches on rocks or corals, adding natural “working” behavior to the display
- May sift the sand bed, which can be a benefit in tanks designed for natural sand-beds
- Commonly uses a burrow; some gobies share a burrow with a pistol shrimp (if available/compatible)
- Accepts small frozen foods such as mysis and copepods when fed appropriately
- Needs a tight lid, as gobies can jump if startled
- Acclimate slowly and provide a quieter spot initially so it can settle in comfortably
