About this fish
About this fish
Panda Goby is a small, peaceful goby for the home saltwater aquarium. Its scientific name is Paragobiodon lacunicolus. In a reef tank, gobies are often useful for natural-looking behavior—perching on rocks or corals, sifting the sand bed, and (for some individuals) living near burrows, sometimes alongside compatible shrimp setups.
Features:
- Peaceful, reef-tank friendly behavior that typically coexists well with many tankmates
- Often seen perching on rocks or corals for a natural, active display
- May sift the sand bed as part of its foraging behavior
- May use a burrow and can share space with a pistol shrimp, if available in the tank
- Eats small meaty foods; commonly accepts mysis and copepods
- Best kept with a tight lid, since many gobies can jump
