About this fish
About this fish
Purple Queen Anthias is an active schooling anthias for the home saltwater aquarium, chosen to add constant movement and color to the midwater. In practice, this fish does best when kept with appropriate tank space and feeding routines, and it’s commonly considered reef compatible when cared for properly.
Features:
- Active, schooling behavior that brings steady movement in the middle of the tank
- Best kept in groups, typically with one male and several females
- Generally considered reef safe, making it a popular choice for mixed community setups
- Higher energy needs that benefit from frequent, small feedings rather than one or two large meals
- Appreciates open swimming space and strong, well-distributed water flow
- Does best in a mature, stable system with consistent water quality
- Acclimate slowly on arrival and allow it a quiet period to settle in before expecting normal feeding and schooling behavior
Specifications:
- Aquarium type: Saltwater (marine) aquarium
- Diet: Small portions of frozen mysis, copepods, and quality pellets
- Feeding frequency: At least three times per day
- Social structure: Grouped living; commonly one male with several females
- Water flow: Strong water flow
- Water quality: Stable water quality; recommended mature system
- Temperament: Active schooling fish
