Brightwell Aquatics MicroBacter Purple M 500 mL (BACPURPM500) – Rhodopseudomonas palustris & Complementary Strains. A live bacterial supplement formulated for marine and reef aquariums. It combines Rhodopseudomonas palustris, a purple non-sulfur bacterium, with complementary aerobic and anaerobic microbes to support biological filtration, nutrient cycling, and organic waste breakdown.

The blend is designed to help reduce ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, phosphate, and organic carbon through microbial activity. It supports both oxygen-rich and low-oxygen areas of the aquarium and can also provide a food source for corals, sponges, and other filter-feeding invertebrates.

Directions for use:

1. Shake well before dosing.

2. For medium- to high-nutrient systems, add 1.25 mL per US gallon weekly for the first two weeks. Switch to the maintenance dose when water quality has significantly improved.

3. For stable, low-nutrient systems, add 5 mL per 50 US gallons weekly. Alternatively, add 1 mL per 50 US gallons daily.

4. Turn off protein skimming and UV sterilization for 24 hours after each addition.

5. Where practical, add to an external biological filtration system. Do not add directly to pump intake ports.

The initial dose is substantially higher than the maintenance dose; follow the bottle’s instructions carefully. A cream or tan color is normal—the manufacturer explains that its oxygen-adapted cultivation method does not produce the characteristic purple pigment in the bottle.
