Seachem Matrix 1L (117) is a high-porosity biomedia designed to provide efficient biological filtration in freshwater or marine aquarium setups. Used inside wet or wet-dry filters, Matrix™ supports beneficial bacteria that break down nitrogenous waste, helping control ammonia and nitrite and supporting denitrifying activity to help with nitrate reduction as well.

Features:

• High capacity biofiltration media built from a porous inorganic solid
• Very large total surface area, with each liter providing more than ~700 m2
• Both external and internal macroporous structure, giving bacteria more places to colonize
• Porosity designed to support nitrifying and denitrifying bacteria species
• Helps remove nitrogenous waste including ammonia, nitrite, and (in the same filter) nitrate
• Inert biomedia that will not break down over time, reducing the need for frequent replacement
• Can be used with all types of wet or wet-dry filter systems
• Because much of the bacteria live within the media, rinsing when needed can be done without damaging the filter’s biological function
