Seachem Purigen 250mL (166) is a synthetic, macro-porous polymer filter media designed to remove both soluble and insoluble impurities from aquarium water in both freshwater and saltwater systems. In practical use, it functions as a “water polishing” media by adsorbing accumulated organic waste, which helps reduce the buildup of nitrogenous byproducts that can otherwise contribute to poor water quality over time. Purigen is commonly used in filtration areas with good water flow such as canister filters and media chambers to support clearer water and more stable conditions for fish and invertebrates.
