LyreTail Anthias – Male

About this fish

LyreTail Anthias – Male is a saltwater anthias fish, identified as Pseudanthias squamipinnis, offered as a male for aquarists who want the “top fish” of an anthias harem. This species is commonly kept in reef-capable marine aquariums where the male helps lead a group, contributing constant mid-water activity and a more dynamic feeding response during mealtimes.

Features:

• Care level: Moderate, best suited to aquarists ready for frequent feeding and stable water conditions. ([liveaquaria.com](https://www.liveaquaria.com/products/indian-ocean-lyretail-anthias))
• Male-specific stocking approach: males are typically kept alone with several females (or singly) to reduce male-on-male conflict. ([liveaquaria.com](https://www.liveaquaria.com/products/indian-ocean-lyretail-anthias))
• Semi-aggressive temperament—plan tank mates and aquascape so the anthias can claim open swimming space while still having hiding areas. ([liveaquaria.com](https://www.liveaquaria.com/products/indian-ocean-lyretail-anthias))
• Reef compatible: suitable for established reef aquariums when water quality and feeding are well managed. ([liveaquaria.com](https://www.liveaquaria.com/products/indian-ocean-lyretail-anthias))
• Active, mid-water dweller: typically found in the middle of the tank and benefits from multiple hiding places nearby. ([liveaquaria.com](https://www.liveaquaria.com/products/indian-ocean-lyretail-anthias))
• Meaty, carnivorous diet: does best with a varied meaty intake such as mysis/shrimp-type foods and other small offerings made available multiple times per day. ([liveaquaria.com](https://www.liveaquaria.com/products/indian-ocean-lyretail-anthias))
• Harem/social behavior: anthias are known to live in groups with one male and multiple females, and they can change sex within the social structure. ([liveaquaria.com](https://www.liveaquaria.com/products/indian-ocean-lyretail-anthias))
