About this fish
Orange Back Fairy Wrasse (Cirrhilabrus aurantidorsalis) is a lively wrasse designed for the home saltwater aquarium. It’s typically kept for its constant activity around the rockwork and for its potential to help control certain aquarium pests. With proper acclimation and secure setup, this wrasse can add movement and color to established marine tanks while joining many common community layouts.
Features:
- Active, colorful swimmer that typically cruises the rockwork through the day
- Often considered reef safe, and may help control pests such as flatworms and bristle worms
- Eats a varied diet; responds well to multiple small feedings
- Many wrasses may bury in the sand or hide in a mucus cocoon at night, so a sand bed can be beneficial
- Strong jumpers—use a tight-fitting lid to help prevent escapes
- Best introduced slowly with acclimation and a quiet place to settle after arrival
