About this fish
About this fish
Yellow Watchman Goby MLG is a home-aquarium goby identified as Cryptocentrus cinctus. It’s a small, peaceful saltwater fish that’s valued for natural behaviors such as perching on rock or corals, sifting and working through the sand bed, and partnering with compatible burrow builders. In practice, this goby adds interest to many reef-style tanks and can help keep the sand bed active in the areas it uses.
Features:
- Peaceful, community-friendly behavior for most home saltwater aquariums
- Often perches on rocks or corals and actively explores its surroundings
- Sand-sifting activity can help with a lively, natural-looking sand bed
- Many individuals share a burrow with a pistol shrimp when conditions are suitable
- Sits in one area once settled, making it easier to observe and pair with tankmates
- Tends to jump, so a secure tank lid is important
- Benefits from slow acclimation and a calm, quiet spot to settle in
