Lime Candlelight Tort Acropora

About this coral

Lime Candlelight Tort Acropora is an SPS (small-polyp stony) coral from the Acropora genus, sold under a named variety. In a reef aquarium, it’s commonly kept for its branching, “tort” growth form and as a fast-accouting focal coral when provided with the strong light and high water movement Acropora generally need.

Features:

• SPS Acropora group coral: benefits from bright, stable lighting to support its photosynthetic energy needs
• High, turbulent flow helps keep feeding surfaces clear of detritus and supports healthy tissue function
• Does best in stable, well-established reef water rather than rapidly changing conditions
• Often used as an aquascape centerpiece because its branching structure can grow into a more complex form over time
• Typical placement is mid-to-upper tank zones where light intensity is highest and flow can be directed across the branches
• Tends to respond to good husbandry with more uniform growth compared with neglected or low-flow, low-light setups
• Like many SPS, it benefits from careful handling and secure attachment to rock or frag systems

Specifications:

• Confirmed identity: Acropora genus (SPS coral); exact species/morph not specified
• Care level (general): SPS—generally considered higher-demand due to sensitivity to stability and flow/light
• Lighting (general guidance): Strong lighting
• Water flow (general guidance): High flow with turbulent/indirect movement
• Tank placement (general guidance): Mid-to-upper areas with strong light and consistent flow across the coral
• Compatibility (general guidance): Best in SPS-capable reef setups with stable parameters and reasonable control of detritus
