About this coral
About this coral
Indo Meteor Shower Cyphastrea is an LPS (large polyp stony) coral in the Cyphastrea group sold under the shop name “Indo Meteor Shower Cyphastrea.” In practical reef-keeping, it’s used as a centerpiece LPS that can display expanded polyps and contribute to the look of a mixed reef while relying on light for much of its energy and benefiting from occasional particulate feeding.
Features:
- LPS-style, large-polyp growth form suited to aquariums that provide stable reef conditions
- Typically thrives with low to moderate light and gentle, indirect water movement
- Helps create a textured focal point in rockwork when placed where polyps can extend comfortably
- For best results, keep water chemistry steady rather than frequently changing conditions
- Benefits from supplemental feeding of suitable coral foods to support polyp health
- Often does best when given adequate space so neighboring corals and flows don’t physically stress it
Specifications:
- Care level: General LPS (Cyphastrea group) reef guidance: moderate, dependent on stability
- Light: Low to moderate reef lighting (typical for many Cyphastrea-style LPS)
- Water flow: Moderate, indirect flow; avoid strong direct blasting
- Placement: On stable rock where polyps can extend; provide space from aggressive neighbors
- Diet: Photosynthetic with supplemental feedings using appropriate particulate coral foods
- Temperature: About 24–27°C (typical reef range)
- Salinity: About 1.024–1.026 SG
- pH: About 8.1–8.4
- Alkalinity: About 7–11 dKH
- Calcium: About 400–450 ppm
- Magnesium: About 1250–1350 ppm
